Well, I did it. I survived 6 finals. And a late night drive home. But I'm finally here. And I gotta say- it feels great (except for the fact that it's actually quite warm here...missing that AC in the dorm).
Anyway, first off, let me just say that I worshipped the Lord on my way home to the music of Passion and Hillsong and the night sky. It was beautiful. My God showed off his creation and I enjoyed it so very much. And then I was home, and it felt so great, and I kept thinking about how much greater it will feel to finally go to our eternal Home one day, and I'm just really homesick for Heaven. I can't wait for it. I don't really know what it will be like, but I know there won't be tears or finals or goodbyes. That's pretty exciting. Not to mention an eternity with my Lord. *sigh* Can't wait to go.
But while I'm here (home, for 3 weeks) I have a few things I'd like to do, so I thought I'd share them with you, faithful readers. You should all keep me accountable and make me feel really guilty if I don't follow through.
The list will probably grow, but here's how it looks for now: (in no specific order)
Read at least 3 books (Let the Nations Be Glad, a book on pacifism, and one other yet to be decided- suggestions?)
Clean off the computer desk where I am now sitting
Get a new cell phone battery
Learn more about the cultures and religions with which I'll interact in Chicago
Write a few letters
See Chris and Derek and Liz
Spend a whole day with my little brother
Spend time with Jesus every day
Watch as little television as possible
Listen to some great podcasts (suggestions here too, please)
Unpack my room. and clean it. (this may take the whole 3 weeks)
NOT sleep more than 10 hours a day
Hang out with Pegan Miller
Okay...for now, that's my list. Not impossible. But there will be lots of other crazy stuff happening in the midst of all of this, such as inventory at the library with mom, haircuts, appointments, chauffeuring mom and austin around, and fun times with people like clay and anna and audrey. But these are my goals.
Someone help me add more. What else should I do in the next 3 weeks?
Just thought I'd suggest another thing to add to your list: go spend a few hours with Mamaw. She needs some company. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and another podcast-our pastor is really awesome; he made the top 10 southern baptist preachers list!!! Anyway, the podcast is tbclife. It's updated periodically, but such good sermons that leave you wanting to dig for more!
Love ya!!
You are absolutely hilarious! I wish you the BEST of luck in accomplishing all of these tasks. I believe (mostly) that you can do it. Also I did laugh when I read that you made a list... and I didn't quit... but yeah. Good luck and I miss you so you should come visit me, add that to your list.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to think this list is insanely crazy.. mainly because I listen to/watch way too many podcast and itunes U things during the summer!! here goes:
ReplyDeletepodcast that are amazing:
The gospel coalition
Desiring God
Lifechurch.tv
Marshill church (the Mark Driscoll one)
Moore to the point preaching
Mosaic (this is Erwin McManus' church)
The village church (Matt Chandler's church resurgence
itunes U- (these are free)
Def. check out some of DTS seminary's class vids.. they have some interesting ones on Missions and things that you might find worth watching..
RTS has a "history of missions" itunes U cast that is good as well...
You may find more things you are interested in on there.. I searched through a number of diff. seminary library courses in order to find the most varied diff. perspectives... because sometimes particular institutions can come with some man made biases because of denominational affiliation.. You don't need me preaching that after Dr. Green's "Context" quote though lol
