FRICKIN FRICKIN FRICKIN!!!! (no actual guinea pigs involved)

Alyssa Wiemer, this title is for you.

Well, kids...today is Sunday. I know it's been a while since any decent updates happened. Sorry about that. Before I fill you in, let me take a moment to inform you that my daddy is the coolest dad around. Like, you may think your dad is cool, and he very well might be, but there's no way you can beat Tim Oglesby. He's just the greatest. I've felt the overwhelming urge to tell people all day how awesome my dad is, but these folks here haven't yet learned to listen to my stories and feign interest. Clay, you need to come train them. It's depressing, really. They just completely ignore me or give me a blank stare. I decided today to quit being offended by that. But the point here is that I love my daddy a lot and he's wonderful and he makes me laugh more than anyone, and we watch SciFi together and know all there is to know about chupacabra and moth man, and we think the same and look the same and laugh at the same things. And I miss my daddy. So there- Happy Fathers Day to the greatest Dad on Earth.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest...
Life at TIBM has been pretty normal. By the really odd standards of the world in which I currently exist. I'm getting pretty close to Catherine- I absolutely adore that girl- and I am becoming more relaxed around Nepalis. Satsang was awesome today. I really enjoyed it, and I was all up in the middle of the Nepalis instead of being in the white people corner.

But yesterday was probably the best day I've had in a while. We hopped on a train into Chicago at about 9 am and around 10:30, I set off to explore the city with Mike, Jessica, Katie, Matt, Jess, and eventually Don. We saw Millennium Park with the big bean thing and some strange statues and a big outdoor concert place, and all sorts of other magical stuff. Including an awesome stream-like place where you can just sit and soak your feet in cool water. We walked a lot and saw the sights on Michigan Ave, and went to eat lunch at Portillos. Yummy stuff.

At this point I decided to go meet my friend Jim who is working at C3 in Boystown. So I left the group and got on the L headed that direction (with the help of Don, I might add. I'd have never made it anywhere without him) and spent the rest of the day with Jim. We...well, I suppose I can only truly speak for myself... I had a great time. Boystown is a pretty huge gay community and Jim hangs out a lot with the street family there, so I met a lot of interesting characters. After a grand tour of the area (which borders on Wrigleyville for you baseball folks) and a little hang out time at C3, we found Jim's friend Isaiah and I spent the rest of the evening with those two. Let me just say, it was wonderful. Anyway, we walked around, goofed off, played on a playground, watched the worst 22-minute independent claymation film on Earth, had mango-flavored airy stuff at Cloud 9, devised a plan for Isaiah to live in the baptistry and/or on the roof, and grilled chicken that I didn't get to eat due to having to catch the train home. We also created an alternate world in which you gain and lose weight according to how intelligent you are as well as how nice you are, gain muscle for sarcasm, lose hair for lying, and learn languages by kissing people. It was a strange day. But I was perfectly content. I do have blisters on my feet and a slight sunburn now though...

Well...I have other crazy things that have happened. Like meeting a demon possessed guy today. Hopefully I'll get to meet this other demon possessed guy sometime soon too. I also know a guy who had TB. And a guy who had a vision of Jesus. And a guy who is conducting worship services (like, for Jesus) at Hindu temples. And I've now visited one of the largest Hindu temples in the world. But yeah...that's my life.

P.S. In response to the conversation happening in the living room (which is also my bedroom) right now, I plan to never "get over my Relient K phase". Such sad words...

  1. The reason Tim is so amazingly awesome is the mustache!!!
Also, I am the absolute MVP at feigning interest towards your stories, I think it might be because I actually like hearing them (dumm dumm dummmm.....) ahaha, I miss you kid. Glad you had a great and fun day :)

  2. OGLES!!! Ahhh! I think you know what all that means. You're dad is very cool, and my dad is very cool. Probably the same coolness. (also my dad has a mustache, which according to clay puts him in the running, and I think we can agree he's pretty cool). I have nothing else to say I miss you a LOT and I love you a LOT.

  4. The chicken was good, but a little dry (hope you found some dinner.) I know some demon possessed people. Izaiyah and I have held true to the traditional bond of the pinkie promise and not injured each other. I found $38 dollars on the ground today...I win.
